I'm kind of wondering if I want to get a decent camera again...

Not sure if it's worth it. I don't shoot very regularly, and my phone takes decent photos. I used to shoot a lot in High School, but that was with an nice Sony superzoom that my brother... commandeered.

I dunno. My phone is convenient, but all I see when I use it is flaws in the photo. At the same time, I don't want to look like some wannabe photographer just because I'm a hair OCD.

Photo related, taken with phone.

I feel like if you shot just a bit lower, and this R8 parked within the lines, you'd have a great composition.

Yeah, I was really bugged by it being not-quite-straight in the parking spot. I just snapped this one on my way into the office one morning.

I've pretty much given up on DSLRs, just because they're too big to carry around the whole time. I prefer to have a less-good camera with me the whole time than not to have a really good camera when I want it.

In that vein, I'm very impressed with some of the high-end mirrorless interchangeable-lens compacts. Small enough to be pocketable, but enough quality and manual capability that it's rare to want or need anything bigger and more specialised.

I have to admit, though, I'm a bit swayed by the styling of the rangefinder-look ones, probably because I grew up shooting on an old rangefinder.

Also worth looking at the better large-sensor compacts, too.

Phones are convenient, and I use mine most of the time. I have a nice (well I think it's nice anyway) camera as well that I take it out maybe every couple weeks. Even though I use my phone more, if there is anything that I know I want to go out and shoot, then I'm always glad that I've got the nice camera available.

The used market right now is saturated with nice cameras that you should be able to pick up for a good value if you want to.

This is similar to what I was looking at should I decide to buy. I really like the form factor.

If its a hobby you enjoy, why not invest some cash into it so you can enjoy it even more? Don't think of it as just looking "like some wannabe photographer" when you're just trying to enjoy a hobby. Don't let that stop you from having fun.

Its a great picture, especially for a phone

I got a X-100 when it first came out. Not interchangable, but a really fun camera to use. The rangefiinder style is nice. I've been tempted to sell off the SPRs and get the fuji x1 pro.

I like them too. But, the thing that's making them viable is that all the sensors and electronics and so-on are getting smaller and smaller. In the same line, phone cameras keep getting better and better.

If you drop a couple of thousand dollars on a camera now, it would be a bit annoying to find in three or four years that a phone will do the same job. If it takes ten years to get there, it'll be less annoying.

Is that photo near Boca Raton? I feel like I've been in that strip mall.

Depending on how much you want to spend, any number of cameras could fit the bill. These are all fixed-lens cameras. There's also mirrorless (which I have) but that involves using multiple lenses.

Canon S100/S110/S120
Canon G15/G16
Fuji X10/X20
Fuji XF1/XQ1
Nikon P330
Nikon P7700/P7800
Olympus XZ-2
Panazonic LF1
Panasonic LX5/LX7
Pentax MX-1
Sony RX100/RX100 II

Close, actually a business park in West Palm.

Thanks for the recommendations! I'll do a little looking.
